What we do

Patio laying. That’s the core of it. We’ve been setting stone, bedding slabs, and getting levels right across Thaxted and the wider Essex area for long enough to know what lasts and what doesn’t. Every job starts with the ground beneath your feet.

We work with a wide range of materials, and the choice matters more than most people realise. Porcelain needs a full mortar bed with the correct flexible adhesive, the substrate has to be spot on before a single tile goes down. Natural stone is a different conversation entirely.

• Liscannor flagstone and other natural stone options

Liscannor is one I’d recommend more often if customers asked. It’s a layered Irish limestone with real character, it holds up well in an Essex winter, which is reason enough to consider it.

Beyond the patio itself

Most gardens need more than just paving. We also install garden walling to define spaces properly and give a finished edge to the whole area. Fencing is something we get called in for regularly too, close-board panels, posts set properly in concrete, done to stand for years.

Artificial grass splits opinion, however some gardens in this area just don’t get the sun for natural turf to perform well. We’ll give you an honest answer about which makes sense for your plot.
