A wet summer focuses the mind

Rain ruins more gardens than neglect does. I grew up watching Irish rainfall wash out poorly laid flags and patios that sat wrong from day one. Falls set incorrectly, water pooling at the back door, the whole thing a mess by October. That stays with you. It’s why we take drainage and gradient seriously on every single job we do here in Essex.

What we lay and install

We work across the full range of patio surfacing. Here is what we can put down for you:

• Porcelain tiles, large format and standard
• Indian sandstone, calibrated and natural cleft
• Concrete flagstones
• Block paving
• Natural limestone and slate
• Granite setts
• Reconstituted stone flags
• Gravel and resin bound surfaces

Each one handles differently underfoot and in frost. We give you the honest picture on which suits your garden, your soil and your budget.

Beyond the patio itself

Laying the patio is often only part of what a garden actually needs. We also install timber fencing, garden walling (block and brick), and paths that tie everything together. Good fencing changes a garden completely. It just does.

For lawns, we lay both roll-on turf and artificial grass. Artificial grass has come a long way (and a surprising number of people in CM22 end up choosing it once they see the maintenance difference). Turf is still the right call for plenty of gardens though, and we do that properly too.

We cover Takeley and the surrounding areas across Essex. If you are in the Stansted, Bishop’s Stortford or Dunmow area, we are likely on your doorstep already. Back in Dublin I used to do work near Kilmacud Crokes GAA grounds, and the ground conditions there hardened me up well for what Essex clay throws at us.
