Gutters first. That is where every job starts for me, and it is what I have built this business around. If your rainwater system is not doing its job, the damage works its way into fascias, soffits, and eventually the fabric of the building itself.

What we cover

Most of what we do day to day falls into a few clear areas:

• New gutter installation and full gutter replacement
• uPVC, aluminium seamless, and cast iron gutters and downpipes
• Half-round, ogee, and square-line gutter profiles
• Soffit and fascia replacement in uPVC
• Leaf guards, gutter mesh, and rainwater diverters
• Connection to existing soakaways and gullies
• Hopper heads, brackets, and downpipe repair

On larger runs I often specify continuous cast-on-site rainwater channels, which eliminate joints entirely and are worth considering on longer fascia lines where leaks tend to develop over time.

Warning signs your gutters need replacing

Plenty of people put this off longer than they should. Here is what I would watch for:

1. Cracks or splits along the gutter run, even small ones
2. Paint peeling or damp patches on the external wall below the roofline
3. Gutters pulling away from the fascia or sitting at the wrong angle
4. Visible rust or corrosion on cast iron sections
5. Water spilling over the front edge during normal rainfall

Materials and sourcing

I source most of my materials locally. Chadwicks in Dublin carries a lot of what I use regularly, and sticking to reliable suppliers keeps quality consistent across jobs. However, for specialist cast iron work or older profiles, I go further afield if I have to.

The fascia and soffit side of the work matters more than people realise. Rotten timber behind a plastic board is a problem that does not fix itself, it just gets worse.
