What we do

From the ground up, that is exactly how every patio job starts with us. We lay patios properly, with base preparation and compaction done in layers, so the finished surface sits solid and stays that way. No shortcuts on the sub-base. Ever.

We have been working across Halstead, Essex and the surrounding area long enough to know what the ground here demands. (The clay-heavy soil in this part of Essex will punish a poorly built base faster than most people expect.) We plan for that from day one.

Materials we work with

We are comfortable working across a wide range of surfacing materials:

• Porcelain tiles, indoor feel outdoors, tough when laid correctly
• Indian sandstone, one of the most reliable natural stones we use
• Concrete flagstones, straightforward and hard-wearing
• Block paving for paths and driveways
• Artificial grass and roll-on turf for lawns

Every material has its own demands. Porcelain needs a full bed. Sandstone needs sealing advice. We talk that through with you before anything gets ordered.

Beyond the patio

We also install timber fencing and garden walling. Solid posts. Proper footings. None of that wobble-after-one-winter business. We collect materials from Ridgeon’s yard in Braintree when a job calls for specific stock, so we are not waiting around on deliveries to start work.

How we work

We turn up on time. We keep the site tidy. We do not disappear halfway through a job to price something else. Short sentences. That is how we work.

However, the most important thing is the prep. A beautiful surface laid on bad groundwork is a problem waiting to happen. We have seen it. We fix it. We do not build it that way ourselves.
