How we work

Across Cheshire, older housing stock throws up specific challenges. Repairing damaged brickwork is something we handle regularly, whether that’s spalled faces on a semi near Frodsham, failing mortar joints on a terrace close to Helsby, or deteriorating blockwork on newer builds around Ellesmere Port. We read a wall before we touch it.

Our groundwork is where most jobs are won or lost (and most clients don’t realise that until something goes wrong further down the line). Getting the sub-base right, managing drainage correctly, setting out levels accurately, that’s the unglamorous work that determines how everything above it performs.

Materials and methods

We work with facing brick, engineering brick, dense and lightweight blockwork, sand and cement render, and through-colour silicone render systems. We specify materials to suit the structure, not the other way around. Honestly, it saves a lot of grief later.

Scale of projects

Elton Builders is comfortable on domestic projects from single-storey rear extensions through to full new-build residential properties. However, we keep our teams tight and our site management hands-on, which means quality doesn’t drift as the job progresses.
