The thing about patio work around here is drainage. Get it wrong and you’re looking at ponding water every time it rains. We dig proper foundations and slope everything right the first time.

For fencing, we use treated timber that handles the sea spray without warping. The posts go deep enough to stay solid through the winter storms we get off Dublin Bay.

Artificial grass has got much better in recent years. The stuff we fit now looks proper and drains well. Good option if you’ve got kids and want something that stays green year round.

Garden walls need proper footings, especially with our clay soil. We use engineering bricks for the base course and make sure the pointing keeps the weather out. No shortcuts on the foundations.

Turf laying is all about timing and preparation. Soil needs to be level and well drained. We source our turf from suppliers who cut fresh, so it takes root quickly.
